Pic Programmers

Programming a single PIC16C84/F84 can be done via the card slot or dil socket. For those with twin chip 84's it is just as easy to program, you program the master chip in the M position first, then push the switch into the S position for slave.

(Always change to RB6 when using twinchip cards) For those with a pic84 and a 24c16 this can be done via the card slot or the dil socket The only difference is, program the 84 as a single 84 and the 24c16 in the M position.

All you need to add is a 15-18 volt AC/DC power supply and a printer cable to your computer.

  1. Insert your unprotected MASTER PIC CHIP into the SOURCE PIC chip socket (Pin1 of Chip to Pin1 of Chip Socket – 8 or 18 Pin Chips)
  2. 2. Set the type of Chip you want to copy by setting the jumpers on J1.
  3. 3. Plug the Power Supply into Con1 of the Copier.
  4. 4. Both the STATUS and the PROG O.K. LED's flash 4 times then extinguish – showing the Copier is ready for use (If this is not the case then there is something wrong with your copier).
  5. 5. Insert a blank Pic Chip into the DESTINATION socket & press the GO button. (Pin1 to Pin1)
  6. 6. The STATUS LED will light – Programming/Copy in progress.
  7. 7. The PROG OK LED will light when Programming/Copy is complete.

Status Led & Flash Codes

  • 1 Flash - Verify Error (Problem in writing to DESTINATION Chip)
  • 2 Flashes - Source Chip Code is Code Protected (unable to copy)

Unit requires a 9 - 20V 100mA (AC or DC) power supply to operate.

Copier has 2 Headers to enable you to wire to an Eeprom in Circuit. (One Header for the Source Eeprom and one for the Destination Eeprom)

Copying Procedure.

  1. Insert your MASTER Eeprom CHIP into the SOURCE Eeprom chip socket (Pin1 of Chip to Pin1 of Chip Socket)
  2. Set the type of Size of Eeprom Chip you want to copy by setting the jumpers on J1.
  3. Plug the Power Supply into Con1 of the Copier.
  4. Both the STATUS and the PROG O.K. LED's flash the revision of Firmware, showing the Copier is ready for use.
  5. Insert a Eeprom Chip into the DESTINATION socket & press the WRITE button. (Pin1 to Pin1)
  6. The STATUS LED will light – Programming/Copy in progress.
  7. The PROG OK LED will light and the The STATUS LED will extinguish when Programming/Copy is complete.

Status Led & Flash Codes

  • Flash - Verify Error - In writing to destination Eeprom
  • 2 Flashes - Invalid Device Selected with Jumpers
  • 3 Flashes - Communication Problem With Source Eeprom

This programmer on it's own can't program a goldwafer card

The Phoenix/Smartmouse programmer can be used on ISO7816 standard cards.

In most cases power is supplied via the comport, external power (9volts) can be used using the power socket.

Smartmouse or Phoenix can be selected with a simple jumper

The option of 2 Crystal Frequencys are selectable via on board switch.

The combination is 3.58MHz/3.68MHz

Mkfind(3.58MHz) works well with this programmer as does Nagraedit (3.68MHz).
